The stories in this book are based on authentic police reports, and the events described are drawn from real life. However, the technical language of police documentation is often heavy, complex, and dry for the general reader, lacking in narrative charm or emotional engagement. Therefore, while translating the original English material into Urdu, only those technical details were retained that were essential for conveying the story effectively. At the same time, without compromising the essence of the events, subtle literary embellishments and occasional additions were made to ensure the narrative does not become monotonous or overly factual.
Another deliberate choice was to alter certain details in some cases—such as names, locations, and in a few instances, even the religion of the characters. In this way, the work becomes a literary and fictionalized reflection of reality, where fact and imagination walk hand in hand.
The significance of these stories lies not only in their realism but also in the fact that their central figures are not men, but women—a rarity in crime narratives. Women are generally perceived as gentle, fragile, and far removed from acts of deliberate violence. It is particularly difficult to imagine a woman committing the cold-blooded act of taking another’s life. Yet, the truth is that when a woman is consumed by the fire of revenge, fights for her honor, or succumbs to intense psychological pressures, she too can cross the line into murder.
This book presents such accounts of female-perpetrated crimes. They do not only involve conventional weapons and methods but also include unusual and inventive means—such as killing someone with a horse’s hoof or using a simple carpenter’s tool as a lethal weapon.
Each narrative covers the entire arc of the case—from the background of the crime to the police investigation, and finally to the courtroom proceedings. This not only gives the stories variety and freshness but also leaves the reader with a moral lesson: evil ultimately leads to downfall. No matter how clever or resourceful a criminal may be, the law’s grasp is inescapable, and in the end, justice prevails.
